The Unmarried Dancer

NOT FOR SALE

80 x 80 cm  –  Oil on canvas

A young Samburu girl moves her shoulders and necklaces to the rythm of the Samburu Moran (warrior) songs. Note her pure Nilotic features on her face. The Samburu are a Nilotic people and descended centuries ago, from the Nile Valley. All the unmarried girls wear mainly only strings of red beads and many decorate their neck and chin with animal fat and a red ocre – the same mixture that the Moran embalm their long hair with.

All my painting have a special anti-UV rays varnish sprayed on to protect the colors from fading or going yellow and to protect the painting as a whole. A damp sponge may be applied to this varnish to remove dust and clean the painting.
