The Samburu are cousins to the Maasai and are similar in many ways. The Samburu, situated further North in Kenya and more isolated, have not had their lives intruded upon as much as the Maasai. The Samburu are a determined people and proud to live and maintain their cultural traditions. This Moran (warrior) is singing and clapping his hands as he joins in to the dance. Notice his long hair embalmed in animal fat and ocre. Once a Samburu has been circumcised, he must not cut his hair until he is no longer of the warrior age group. Nowadays, this can be too difficult or even impossible to do, especially for many warriors working.

All my painting have a special anti-UV rays varnish sprayed on to protect the colors from fading or going yellow and to protect the painting as a whole. A damp sponge may be applied to this varnish to remove dust and clean the painting.
