Shampole Maasai

NOT FOR SALE

80 x 80 cm  –  Oil on canvas

This group or clan of Maasai live near and across the Kenyan boarder with Tanzania. Because of the “land restrictions”, they have become sedentary but still graze their cattle and goats on the wide open spaces remaining available to them. They share their grazing land with the wildlife around them. They are easily identified with the exceptional white beads they wear. White beads to these Maasai is a sign of peace. Indeed they are an incredibly friendly and welcoming people. This warrior reflects the strength of his lean body due to the healthy diet he respects. The white necklaces that he wears are typical of the Shampole Maasai of this relatively remote area, Shampole.

All my paintings have a special anti-UV rays varnish sprayed on to protect the colors from fading or going yellow and to protect the painting as a whole. A damp sponge may be applied to this varnish to remove dust and clean the painting.
